CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS
What is the Canadian Experience Class?
The Canadian Experience Class works hand-in-hand with the Express Entry pool system. Canadian residents that are already in the country can access express entry benefits through the CEC. The CEC enables them to process their permanent residency status speedily without going through other rigorous channels. Candidates must meet the minimum requirements of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to access CEC sessions. You’d get an invite if you qualify.
CEC APPLICATION
Who can Apply under Canadian Experience Class?
To get an invitation to apply for permanent residency in Canada through CEC, you must first apply for the class sessions. The following are the minimum requirements expected from every CEC applicant both at home and abroad:
- Applicants must have worked for at least one year with a Canadian employer. Their one-year employment status must be within the last 36 months of applying
- Applicants must have valid plans of residing in any territory aside from QUEBEC. Exemptions for candidates applying for a QUEBEC Experience Class
- Candidates must have at least CLB 5 when sending their applications for NOC B jobs. Applicants rooting for NOC O and/or A jobs should have at least CLB 7
Note: Only applicants with at least 1,560 work hours are considered for the Canadian Experience Class. You can accumulate these working hours from part-time or full-time employment. As foreign applicants, you may decide to stay back in the country until your application is approved. You can also apply for the Canadian Experience Class Program from a foreign country. However, you must apply within three years of working with a Canadian employer.
You should also note that applications based on self-employment aren’t acceptable under the CEC program. Candidates with self-employment certifications can consider other appropriate immigration channels. Work experience gained while schooling in Canada (Internships) is not considered as well. Express Entry pool through CEC.
